Name That Notable

I am a Scot, and I was  born on March 13th,1813. By 1840 I completed my course of study in medicine…I  am also a missionary.  I lived 30 years of  my life  in  Africa, and explored nearly a third of this fascinating continent.  I am the first white man to see the mighty falls I named for my Queen (Victoria). On  November 10th,  1871  in the  village  of  Ujiji  (located on the east side of Lake Tanganyika), I met a New York Herald Tribune reporter by  the  name of Henry  Stanley.  I died on April 30th,1873.  As per my  request, my heart was buried in Africa, but my body was returned to England and interred in Westminster Abbey.

Who am I?
